Friday, April 13 - 5 Jer, xfer, 7 Coach, 8 TM, 2 tib, 1 TLV, xfer, Masada Day 1 - DEPART - This evening we depart Boston, via best connections for our overnight flight to Tel Aviv. We enjoy in-flight movies and dinner and breakfast aloft. Saturday, April 14 - Day 2 - JERUSALEM - We arrive at Ben Gurion Airport Tel Aviv and transfer to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. Sunday, April 15 - Day 3 - JERUSALEM ??? We enter the Old City through Zion Gate and make our way to the Western (Wailing) Wall; we see the Cardo and the remains of Nehemiah's wall. Security permitting, we visit The Temple Mount. We prayerfully walk the Stations of The Cross along the Via Dolorosa concluding at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where we celebrate Mass. We have lunch on our own and time for shopping in the Christian Quarter. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Monday, April 16 - Day 4 - JERUSALEM - Today we drive to Bethlehem, ???The House of Bread,??? to visit the Church of the Nativity that commemorates the birth of Christ. We visit the Manger, Crusader's Cloister, and the Grotto of St. Jerome. We visit The Arches Christian Gift Shop. Returning to Jerusalem, we drive along the Kidron Valley stopping at St. Peter in Gallicantu (The Cock Crows), where Jesus was held in the house of the High Priest Caiaphas, where we celebrate Mass. At Mt. Zion, we visit the Church of Dormition and pray in the Upper Room. Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Tuesday, April 17 - Day 5 - JERUSALEM ??? This morning after visiting the place of the Ascension and the Church of the Pater Noster, we view the beautiful City of Jerusalem from Mt. of Olives. We then walk down the hill to Dominus Flevit Chapel, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem and on to the Garden of Gethsemane, where we have time for personal prayer and celebrate Mass at the Church of All Nations. After Mass, we visit the Tomb of the Virgin, where Tradition says the Virgin Mary was laid to rest. We have a leisurely lunch on our own and afternoon free. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Wednesday, April 18 - Day 6 - JERUSALEM/EMMAUS/TIBERIAS ??? This morning we visit the Model City of Jerusalem as it was in the time of Jesus. Then, we follow the path of the Disciples on the road to Emmaus and celebrate Mass at Abu Gosh, in the 12th Century Crusader Church which commemorates the Emmaus experience. We drive through Samaria to Tiberias. After stopping at the Jordan River, where we renew our Baptismal promises, we continue to our hotel on the shores of the Galilee for dinner and overnight. Thursday, April 19 - Day 7 ??? TIBERIAS - This morning, we drive to Mt. Tabor, where we celebrate the Mass of Transfiguration. We drive to the village of Cana, the site of Jesus' first miracle, where our married couples renew their wedding vows. We drive on to Nazareth visiting Mary's well and walk through the local bazaars. We visit the Church of the Annunciation, where the Word became Flesh. Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Friday, April 20 - Day 8 - TIBERIAS ??? This morning we travel by bus to Capernaum, where we see the remains of the village synagogue and the new church built atop St. Peter's house. Next, we drive to the Mount of Beatitudes, where we have time for personal meditation. On to visit Tabgha and the Franciscan Church of St. Peter's Primacy, where Jesus made His appearance after the resurrection. We celebrate Mass at the outside altar overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Next, we see the Benedictine Basilica of the Loaves and Fishes. Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Saturday, April 21 - Day 9 - TEL AVIV ??? This morning we drive to Mt. Carmel, where we visit the site of Elijah's confrontation with the priests of Baal, and celebrate Mass. We then depart for Caesarea along the Mediterranean and visit the Roman and Crusader remains. We continue to Jaffa, the city of Jonah, where Peter had his rooftop experience; we ride through the quaintly restored area before stopping for our farewell dinner. We check in to our hotel in Tel Aviv for overnight. Sunday, April 22 - Day 10 - USA ??? After breakfast we transfer to the airport for our flight home. We arrive home with unforgettable memories to cherish always. Knowing we have walked in the footsteps of Jesus and the early Christians brings new meaning to our Scripture reading and celebration of Mass.
