Monday, June 5 - Day 1 – DEPART USA – Today we depart Atlanta to connect with our overnight to Lisbon aboard a wide-bodied jet. We enjoy in-flight movies, dinner and breakfast aloft. Tuesday, June 6 - DAY 2 - LISBON - We arrive in Lisbon Airport, where we arrive late morning and are met by our tour manager who will be with us throughout our pilgrimage.  As we tour the sights of Lisbon we will see its soaring suspension bridge over the Tagus River, the waterfront where the great Voyages of Discovery began, Commerce Square with its pink arcades; the ruins of Carmo Church, a lasting memorial to the victims of the earthquake of 1755.  We will have lunch by the river in Lisbon on our own.  This afternoon, we see bustling Rossio Square where heretics were burned at the stake.  Today it is surrounded by shops and colorful cafes--the heart of Lisbon.  Enjoy our best views of city and river from ramparts of St. George's Castle, perched on Citadel Hill in the Alfama district, Lisbon's oldest, hilliest and most enticing neighborhood.  We will visit the Cathedral located near the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua (known in Portugal as Santo Antonio of Lisbon), and celebrate Mass at the small church nearby which bears his name.  We enjoy a dinner out or at our hotel with Portuguese Fado Singers.    Some sightseeing in Lisbon will be continued in the morning. D Wednesday, June 7 - DAY 3 - LISBON/SANTAREM/FATIMA – This morning, continue our Lisbon sightseeing and then make our way to Fatima. On route, we celebrate Mass at the Church of the famous Eucharistic Miracle at Santarem. Lunch will be on our own. We continue to Fatima where the balance of the day at leisure.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel. In the evening, we join the International Rosary Procession.  BD Thursday, June 8 - DAY 4 - FATIMA - This full day is devoted to visiting the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima and the birthplaces of Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia to whom the Virgin appeared for the first time on May 13th, 1917. We participate in the 100th Anniversary celebrations as well. In the evening, we once again join the International Rosary Procession.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel. BD Friday, June 9 - DAY 5 - FATIMA/SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - Today following Mass at a chapel, we depart Fatima, passing by the ancient capital and university city of Coimbra, where Lucia, the last Fatima visionary lived as a cloistered nun.  We continue northwards passing through Porto where we stop for lunch and a wine tasting in Ribiera then continue through Braga and into Spain.  We continue to Santiago de Compostela, one of the most famous shrines in the western world. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.  BLD Saturday, June 10 - DAY 6 - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – Santiago De Compostela is the site of the ancient pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. James.  Tradition holds that the Apostle James was cast ashore here preaching for seven years and being responsible for the conversion of Spain before returning to the Holy Land. The Cathedral of 11th to 13th century with its splendor, and the portico are masterworks of Romanesque art.  Today, we enjoy a visit to the Cathedral and the Old City here.  If possible, we will join in The Pilgrims Mass when the huge famous censer is utilized. We will be free to enjoy the varied delights of the Galatian restaurants in the nearby Old City. B Sunday, June 11 – Holy Trinity - Day 7 – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA/SALAMANCA/ALBA DE TORMES/AVILA – this morning, we travel south to Salamanca, home to the House of Teresa, and her seventh foundation in 1570, where the “nights of the spirit” took place. We visit the Old and New Cathedral, where one of the chapels in the new church is devoted to St Teresa. We celebrate Mass here. At the Convent of San Esteban, we see the confessional box she used. Our brief panoramic bus tour of the city includes Pontifical University and the University of Salamanca where St John of the Cross studied.  We continue to nearby Alba de Tormes.  We visit the Convent of La Annunciation, St. Teresa’s 8th foundation in 1571, where St. Teresa died on Oct 4, 1582 and where her mortal remains still rest.  We continue to Avila and our hotel for dinner and overnight.BD Monday, June 12 - Day 8 - AVILA - Today we visit Avila, the birthplace of St. Teresa of Jesus, (1515-1582), one of the Church's greatest and most influential mystics. Here we will also visit the Cathedral and the Convent of the Incarnation, where St. Teresa lived for three decades and St. John of the Cross, her spiritual director and confessor lived for the last two years of her life. We celebrate Mass here and have some free time to explore on our own before we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. BD Tuesday, June 13 - Day 9 - AVILA/TOLEDO/MADRID – Our journey today takes us south to Toledo where St. John of the Cross spent much of his life and the Middle Age Christian, Jewish and Moorish cultures co-existed for many years.  Among other sites, we will see the imperial residence Alcazar, the 13th century Synagogue and the Gothic Cathedral where we will celebrate Mass.  We continue to Madrid for dinner and overnight. BD Wednesday, June 14 - Day 10 - MADRID - Today, we see Madrid, capital of Spain.  We enjoy a tour of the city including the Gran Via Plaza de España, the Viaduct, Plaza Major, the Bull Ring, Independence and Cibeles Squares, the University, and the Paseo de la Castellana. We celebrate Mass at the lovely Cathedral.  We will have free time for personal adventure, shopping or rest. We will enjoy a delightful evening of dinner and Flamenco dancing. BD Thursday, June 15 – Body and Blood of Christ - Day 11 – MADRID/BARCELONA – Today, we transfer to the train station to board our high speed AVE train for our scenic ride to Barcelona.  On arrival we drive through the Gothic quarter bisected by the famous Ramblas and see the important new developments at the pleasure port where many of the Olympic events were held in 1992. We enjoy a spectacular view from the top of the Montjuic hill, pass by the Exchange and visit the Church of the Holy Family or Sagrada Familia, the still uncompleted masterpiece of Antoni Gaudi. Afterwards we visit the Unesco World Heritage "Park Guell" one of Gaudi's Masterpieces of "landscape architecture.” Time permitting, we will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral. We will be free to enjoy the culinary delights of Barcelona tonight as dinner is on our own. B Note that porterage service is not provided on the train. Friday, June 16 - Day 12 - MONTSERRAT - This morning we drive to Montserrat on the outskirts of Barcelona and celebrate Mass at the Monastery housing the famed Black Madonna. If possible we enjoy the mid-day music of the famous boys’ choir here.  Before returning to Barcelona we will enjoy lunch and a wine tasting along the way.  We will have free time to explore on our own and enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. BLD Saturday, June 17 - DAY 13 - RETURN - We transfer to the airport for our flight home with unforgettable memories to cherish always.
