During the southern hemisphere's summer, approx. from November to March inclusive, Green Explorer I will be based partly in Punta Arenas and partly on the sheltered King George Island at the northern tip of the Antarctica Peninsula. A chartered plane will fly the owners and their guests from Punta Arenas to and from the vessel to avoid the 6-days return journey across the often very windy and bumpy Drake's Passage. The local summer cruising areas of Green Explorer I include the 1.500km coast of Southern Chile and the 1.200km Antarctic Peninsula - both with countless incredible fjords, bays, sounds, canals islands and peninsulas. Most of the cruising will take place in fairly sheltered areas in the midnight sun or "white nights".
