Thursday, October 8 - Day 1 ??? DEPART USA ??? Today we depart Washington DC Dulles airport on our overnight flight to Lisbon aboard a wide-bodied jet. We enjoy in-flight movies, dinner and breakfast aloft. Friday, October 9 - DAY 2 - LISBON/SANTAREM/ FATIMA - We arrive in Lisbon Airport, where we are met and given a short orientation tour of Lisbon.   Time permitting; we visit St Anthony???s Church, located on the very site where St Anthony was allegedly born. We proceed to the Church of the famous Eucharistic Miracle at Santarem where we celebrate Mass.  We continue to Fatima for dinner and overnight.  In the evening, we join the International Rosary Procession.  Overnight at our hotel. Saturday, October 10 - DAY 3 - FATIMA - This full day is devoted to visiting the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima and nearby hamlets of Aljustrel and Valinhos.  We visit the birthplaces of Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia to whom the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 6 times, from May 13 to October 13, 1917.  We celebrate Mass at one of the Chapels or the Chapel of Apparitions, where most of the apparitions took place.  In the evening, we once again join the International Rosary Procession.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Sunday, October 11 - DAY 4 - FATIMA/SALAMANCA /AVILA - This morning, we celebrate Mass at one of the Chapels or the Chapel of Apparitions.  Afterward, in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of St Teresa Avila, we pray for the rebirth and reinvigoration of her spirit among us and visit several sites of importance in the life this remarkable saint and Doctor of the Church in Salamanca and Avila.  In Salamanca, at the Convent of San Esteban, we see the confessional box she used.  We enjoy a brief panoramic coach tour of the city: the Old & New Cathedral, Pontifical University and the University of Salamanca where St John of the Cross studied.  We continue to Avila and pass by the Four Posts (Los Cuatro Postes), a roadside shrine just outside Avila???s walls marking the spot where, at age seven, St. Teresa???s uncle stopped her and her brother from running away to become martyrs in battle with the Moors.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel.  Monday, October 12 - Day 5 ??? AVILA/ZARAGOZA - Today, we visit the Church and Convent built on the house where she was born, the  Church of San Juan Bautista where she was baptized, the twelfth century cathedral containing many of her relics, and the Monastery of San José, the first convent of the Discalced Carmelite Reform that she founded in 1562.  We celebrate Mass at the Monastery of La Encarnacion, where St Teresa entered in 1535 at age 20, began to reform the Carmelite order and had some of her mystical experiences.  Afterward continue to Zaragoza for dinner and overnight at our hotel. Tuesday, October 13 - Day 6 - ZARAGOZA/ MONTSERRAT/BARCELONA- This morning, we celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Pilar, the number one Marian site in Spain.  According to tradition, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St James in 40 AD to comfort him and assure him that his efforts will not be in vain.  At the time, St James was disheartened by his evangelization efforts in Spain. This is the first recorded Marian Apparition in history and the only one which took place during the earthly life of the Blessed Mother.  Afterward, we proceed to Montserrat, home to the dramatically set Benedictine Monastery housing the famed Black Madonna. This Marian Shrine has attracted pilgrims for over 700 years, much as it did Ignatius of Loyola.  In March of 1522, Ignatius put his sword before the Black Madonna and exchanged his fancy clothes for those of a beggar.   We continue to Barcelona for dinner at a local restaurant with a Flamenco show.  Overnight at our hotel. Wednesday, October 14 - Day 7 - BARCELONA/ LOURDES ??? After breakfast, we celebrate Mass at the Cathedral.  We proceed to the Gothic quarter bisected by the famous Ramblas and see the important new developments at the pleasure port where many of the Olympic events were held in 1992. We will enjoy a spectacular view from the top of the Montjuic hill, pass by the Exchange and visit the Church of the Holy Family or Sagrada Familia, the still uncompleted masterpiece of  Gaudi.  We depart Barcelona and traverse the Pyrenees northward entering southern France. We arrive in Lourdes for dinner and overnight.  Tonight, following dinner, we have the option of participating in the Torch light Procession. Thursday, October 15 - Teresa of Avila - Day 8 - LOURDES - This morning, we begin with Mass at the Grotto and an orientation tour of the Shrine of Lourdes. Our walking tour will take us to Boly Mill, the birthplace of St. Bernadette, the Cachot, the former jail, where she lived during the apparitions and the local parish church. This afternoon is free for personal devotions to Our Lady of Lourdes including, for those who wish, the legendary, healing waters of the miraculous Lourdes spring.  Again, tonight, following dinner, we have the option of participating in the Torch light Procession Friday, October 16 - Day 9 - LOURDES/PARIS - This morning we transfer to the airport in Pau for our flight to Paris. Upon arrival, we tour its sites including a visit to the most enduring symbol of the French capital, Notre Dame Cathedral on Ile de la Cite. Time permitting we have lunch on our own at the Louvre Cafeteria. This afternoon, we visit the Miraculous Medal Shrine of St. Catherine Laboure, then the St. Vincent de Paul Shrine. Afterward, we enjoy a panoramic tour of Paris, including a drive along Champs-Elysees, one of the most beautiful avenues in the world, , lined with luxury shops, cafes and cinemas, bordered on the opposite end by beautiful gardens, fountains and grand buildings. The Champ-Elysees ends at the Arc de Triomphe, Napoleon???s triumphal arch. Transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight. After dinner, we are free to explore Paris on our own. Saturday, October 17 - DAY 10 - PARIS/LISIEUX- Today we venture out of Paris to Lisieux, the home of St. Therese the Little Flower, where we celebrate Mass in the village convent. We also visit the Basilica dedicated to St. Therese. The Basilica is the objective for pilgrims from the world over who come to kneel in solemn prayer to St. Therese. Here we visit Les Buissonnets, where St. Therese lived as a child. Tonight we have the opportunity to enjoy the culinary treasures of Paris as dinner will be on our own. Overnight at our hotel Sunday, October 18 - St. Luke - DAY 11 - PARIS/USA - We transfer to the airport this morning for our return flight home.
