Tuesday, April 7 - DAY 1- USA/LISBON - Today we depart Newark on our overnight flight to Lisbon aboard a wide bodied jet. We enjoy in-flight movies, dinner and breakfast aloft. Wednesday, April  8 - DAY 2 - LISBON/SANTAREM/ FATIMA - We arrive in Lisbon Airport where we are met. Time permitting we are given a short orientation tour of the city. We visit St Anthony???s Church and  the Se Cathedral of Lisbon. Afterwards, we drive to Santarem and visit the 750 years old Eucharistic Miracle at the Church of the Holy Miracle.  We celebrate Mass here.  We continue to Fatima.  After dinner, we join the Rosary and candlelight procession.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Thursday,  April 9 - DAY 3 - FATIMA - This full day is devoted to visiting the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima and nearby hamlets of Aljustrel and Valinhos.  After Mass, we visit the homes of Francisca, Jacinta & Lucia.  The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 6 times to the three children from May 13 to October 13, 1917.   In the evening, we join the Rosary and candlelight procession.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Friday,  April 10 - DAY 4 - FATIMA/LAMEGO/SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA -Today we depart Fatima and travel to Lamego, a quaint, charming Portuguese town and visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedios.  (Santuario Nossas Senhora dos Remedios). This shrine, with its 600 steps staircase was built in 1129 by Afonso Henriques, who later became Portugal???s first king.  We celebrate Mass here. We continue northwards into Spain and on to Santiago de Compostela, one of the most famous shrines in the western world. This is the site of the ancient pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. James.  Tradition holds that the Apostle James was cast ashore here preaching for seven years and being responsible for the conversion of Spain before returning to the Holy Land.  On arrival this afternoon, we check in at our hotel.   Dinner tonight is at local Galician restaurant in the Old City. Saturday,  April 11 - DAY 5 - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA/SALAMANCA - After an early breakfast, we walk to the Cathedral to celebrate Mass, visit the Tomb of St James beneath the high altar, and then tour the rest of the Cathedral. Afterwards, we view the facades of the imposing Cathedral from its several plazas.  After brief lunch on our own, we journey to Salamanca for dinner and overnight. Sunday,  April 12 - Divine Mercy - DAY 6 - SALAMANCA/ ALBA DE TORMES/AVILA/ MADRID - This morning, enjoy  a panoramic bus tour of Salamanca, a true marvel of Renaissance art, a city that glows in the golden color of the stone used in its innumerable monuments. It is one of the few European cities with two cathedrals, one ancient in the Romanesque style, the other belonging to the late Gothic school.  We proceed to Alba de Tormes, where St Teresa of Avila, first woman Doctor of the Church and one of the greatest mystics, died in 1582 and was buried.   At the Carmelite Convent of the Annunciation we see her incorrupt heart and left arm.   We celebrate Mass here. We proceed to Avila, her birthplace, which has kept its medieval austerity and has changed very little since the 11th century.  We visit the Cathedral, then the Convento de Santa Teresa to see her relics and the Monasterio de la Encarnacion where St. Teresa lived for three decades. We continue to Madrid for dinner and overnight at our hotel. Monday, April 13 - DAY 7 ??? MADRID - We begin our day this morning at the Virgin of Almudena Cathedral, consecrated by Pope John Paul II in 1993, where we celebrate Mass.  Afterwards, we tour artistic Madrid, including the Gate of Alcala, Retiro Park, the Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, and the famous Prado Museum. In the afternoon, we visit all the highlights of Madrid, including the Gran Via Plaza de Espana, the Viaduct, Plaza Major, the Bull Ring, Independence and Cibeles Squares, and the Paseo de la Castellana.  This evening, dinner is at a local restaurant. Overnight at our hotel. Tuesday, April 14 - DAY 8 - MADRID/ZARAGOZA ??? Today we travel eastwards and stop by the beautiful Monastery of Santa Maria de Huerta, established in 1162, where Cistercian monks are still in residence.    We continue to Zaragoza, founded by the Romans. Its luxuriant vegetation, with its many cascades and grottos make it a miniature Switzerland in the middle of arid upper Aragon. This city was also the birthplace of Goya, whose works grace some of the sites included in our trip.  We celebrate Mass and visit the Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Pilar where according to tradition; the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St James in 40 AD.  This is the first recorded Marian Apparition in history and the only apparition which took place during the earthly life of the Blessed Mother.  Dinner and overnight at our hotel. Wednesday, April 15 - DAY 9 ??? ZARAGOZA/BARCELONA ??? This morning we travel to the Monastery of Poblet, one of the enchanting abbeys in Spain, a World Heritage site. We proceed to Montserrat, home to the dramatically set Benedictine Monastery housing the famed Black Madonna. This Marian Shrine has attracted pilgrims for over 700 years, much as it did Ignatius of Loyola.  In March of 1522, Ignatius put his sword before the Black Madonna and exchanged his fancy clothes for those of a beggar.   We celebrate Mass at the Monastery.  We continue to Barcelona for dinner and overnight. Thursday, April 16 - Day 10 - BARCELONA - Today we visit and celebrate Mass at the Cathedral.  Afterwards, we go through the Gothic quarter bisected by the famous Ramblas and see the important new developments at the pleasure port where many of the Olympic events were held in 1992. We will enjoy a spectacular view from the top of the Montjuic hill, pass by the Exchange and visit the Church of the Holy Family or Sagrada Familia, the still uncompleted masterpiece of Antoni Gaudi. Afterwards we visit the Unesco World Heritage "Park Guell" one of Gaudi`s Masterpieces of "landscape architecture. We enjoy some free time this afternoon for shopping and personal adventure.  This evening, we enjoy dinner at a restaurant with a Flamenco show. Overnight at our hotel. Friday, April 17 - Day 11 - RETURN TO USA ??? We transfer to the airport for our return flight to the U.S and our home cities with unforgettable memories to cherish always.
