Map Switzerland - Country Information
Map of Switzerland - The Swiss Confederation is a country located in western Europe, and the map of Switzerland is bordered by Germany to the north, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east, Italy to the south, and France to the west. The map of Switzerland depicts a landlocked country that is politically divided into 26 cantons, and which is geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau, and the Jura. Switzerland is the birthplace of the Red Cross, and the Swiss Plateau is home to the two global cities and economic centres of Zurich and Geneva, and Switzerland is one of the richest countries in the world on a per capita basis. The map of Switzerland encompasses a wide variety of landscapes in a relatively limited area, and the very mountainous southern region of the country is much more sparsely populated than the northern plateau region. The three basic geographical divisions of the map of Switzerland are the Swiss Alps to the south, the middleland, or Swiss Plateau, and the Jura Mountains or Jura Alps of the north. Switzerland has many lakes, and many glaciers, as well as several major rivers, including the Rhine and the Rhone, as well as the major lakes of Lake Geneva, Lake Constance, and Lake Maggiore, giving Switzerland about 6% of Europe's stock of fresh water.
