Map Sudan - Country Information
Map of Sudan - The map of the Republic of Sudan depicts a country in north Africa, that is also considered to be a part of the Middle East, and is sometimes called North Sudan, after the secession of South Sudan in 2011. The map of Sudan is bordered to the north by Egypt, the Red Sea to the northeast, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, South Sudan to the south, the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west, and Libya to the northwest. The map of Sudan is divided into east and west halves by the Nile River, and because of its proximity to the Nile, and to Egypt, the history of the two countries are entwined. The terrain of Sudan is generally flat plains, interspersed with several mountain ranges. In the west, the Marrah Mountains contain the Deriba Caldera, the highest point in Sudan, while in the east of the map of Sudan are the Red Sea Hills. The Blue and White Nile Rivers meet in Khartoum to form the River Nile, which flows northward through Egypt towards the Mediterranean.
