Map Poland - Country Information
Map of Poland - The map of the Republic of Poland depicts a country in central Europe that is bordered to the west by Germany, to the south by the Czech Republic and Slovakia, to the east by Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania, and to the north by the Baltic Sea. The map of Poland comprises several geographic regions: the first being the Baltic Sea coast, located in the northwest, which is comprised of a relatively straight coastline interspersed with several spits, or coastal lakes which were originally bays that were cut off from the sea, as well as the Bay of Puck, and Szczecin and Vistula Lagoons. The terrain of this coastal region of the map of Poland is comprised of many dunes. The centre and parts of the north of the map of Poland lie within the North European Plain. Gently rising above these coastal lowlands are a series of four hilly districts known as the Pomeranian, Kashubian, Masurian, and Greater Polish Lake Districts. These regions' hills are formed by moraine deposits, and the lakes are dammed by moraines, which are the left over deposits that form at the ends of glaciers, and are composed of material that has gathered in the glacial ice and melts out upon glacial recession, and the material that is plowed up by advancing or retreating glaciers. In the south is the Carpathian Mountain region, among other mountain ranges, as well as regions of broad ice-age river valleys.
