Map Nepal - Country Information
Map of Nepal - A landlocked country in south Asia, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is home to eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the tallest point in the world. The map of Nepal is bordered in the north by the People's Republic of China, and in the south, east, and west by India, while, across the Himalayas lies the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The northern part of the map of Nepal is the mountainous home of Mount Everest, and over 240 other peaks that are over 6000 metres above sea level. The map of Nepal is roughly trapezoidal in shape, and can be divided into three physiographic regions: mountain, hill, and Terai, or southern lowland plain. The south of the map of Nepal, bordering India, is the lowland area, which rises towards the hill region in the central portion of the map, and rises again to the mountainous north. The Himalayan Mountain Range was formed by the collision of the Indian subcontinent with the Eurasian continent. This collision pushed up the mountains, and is still continuing today, with India moving northward at about 50 millimetres per year. This collision is a great example of modern plate tectonic theory.
