Map Germany - Country Information
Map of Germany - The map of the Federal Republic of Germany is divided into 16 states, with its capital and largest city at Berlin. The map of Germany depicts a country located in Western and Central Europe, with Denmark located to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, France and Luxembourg to the southwest and Belgium and the Netherlands to the northwest. Elevation ranges from the Alps mountain range in the south to the shores of the North Sea in the northwest, and the Baltic Sea in the northeast. The uplands of central Germany are forested, while the lowlands of northern Germany are traversed by the Rhine, the Danube, and the Elbe Rivers. Glaciers are still located in the alpine regions, but, as in most of the world, they are receding. Germany has a long history and has been documented as home of the Germanic peoples since before 100 A.D. Even Julius Caesar made mention of the Germans and crossed the Rhine into German territory during his Gallic campaigns just to show the Germans that he could.
