Map of Dominican Republic - The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean nation which occupies the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with Haiti, and which is part of the Greater Antilles Archipelago, which also includes Cuba. The nation's capital, Santo Domingo, is located on the southern coast of the map of the Dominican Republic. As well as two-thirds of the main island, there are many offshore islands or cays which are part of the map of Dominican Republic. The main island has four major mountain ranges, and, overall, the topography of the map of the Dominican Republic is very mountainous, with narrow coastal plains regions. Santo Domingo is located on the largest of these coastal plains, the "Caribbean Coastal Plain," on which is located many sugar plantations in the savannas that are common there. The climate of the Dominican Republic is mostly tropical, somewhat modified by elevation. Also, the map of the Dominican Republic is divided into 31 provinces, with Santo Domingo designated as the National District.
